LIAT 2020’s inaugural flight would be landing   at Argyle International Airport (AIA), on Friday October 5th,  marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity. The much-anticipated event has brought excitement to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), promising to transform the island nation’s accessibility and tourism potential.

For many in the region, the rebranded LIAT 2020 has been a symbol of resilience, and today, that promise came to life. Upon arrival at AIA, passengers were greeted with a colorful celebration of SVG’s culture. The air was filled with the sounds of local musicians, while dancers adorned in traditional costumes swirled and stepped in rhythm. The aroma of Vincentian delicacies, from fresh seafood to sweet treats, wafted through the air, giving travelers a taste of the islands’ vibrant culinary scene.

The introduction of LIAT 2020 to SVG was met with great enthusiasm from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA). Annette Mark, CEO of SVGTA, expressed her excitement, stating:

“We are thrilled to welcome LIAT 2020 to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This new service will not only strengthen our tourism industry by providing more direct access to our islands, but it also reinforces our commitment to making SVG a premier destination in the Caribbean. We look forward to welcoming travelers who will now find it even easier to explore everything our islands have to offer.”

The new LIAT 2020 route offers connections from key Caribbean hubs such as Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Grenada, making it more convenient for both regional and international travelers to access the stunning natural beauty of SVG. For adventure seekers and those in search of relaxation, SVG has long been known as a gem in the Caribbean. Its turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and lush rainforests offer an unparalleled experience.

Hafsah Abdulsalam, Chief Executive Officer of LIAT 2020, acknowledged the importance of the new flights in her remarks:

“This is not just another inaugural flight, but a bold new chapter for LIAT 2020 and the vibrant communities of the Caribbean. This flight symbolizes our unwavering commitment to connect our beautiful islands through efficient and reliable air service, fostering tourism, trade, and cultural exchange that continue to enrich us all. St. Vincent stands as a pivotal destination in our network, and we are thrilled to deepen our roots here by introducing more flight options to invigorate passenger and cargo movement across the Caribbean. We are excited to offer travelers a customer-centric travel experience that reflects the spirit of our islands and the promise of a connected future.”

As the flight touched down at 4:20 p.m., it was clear that the day marked a significant boost for SVG’s tourism industry. With LIAT 2020’s flights, SVG will see increased accessibility for regional visitors and a smoother connection for international travelers flying through major Caribbean gateways.

Hon. Carlos James, Minister of Tourism, emphasized the importance of this new route in his statement:

“The commencement of LIAT 2020’s flights to St. Vincent and the Grenadines marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to boost regional tourism and connectivity. These flights provide an essential link for our islands, strengthening ties with our Caribbean neighbors while also opening new pathways for international visitors to experience our culture, natural beauty, and hospitality. We are proud to welcome LIAT 2020, and this new service is a testament to our ongoing commitment to making SVG an accessible and thriving destination for all.”

To commemorate the launch, LIAT 2020 and SVGTA have introduced special promotional fares. Travelers booking between October 4 and October 31, 2024, can secure flights for as low as US$99 + TAX, making it more affordable to visit the islands. This exclusive offer is available through LIAT’s official website.

With the introduction of these flights, both SVG and LIAT 2020 are looking forward to a new era of increased tourism and stronger regional ties. Visitors can now explore the breathtaking sights of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, from the turquoise waters of the Tobago Cays to the serene, unspoiled beaches of Bequia, and the majestic La Soufrière volcano. These new flight connections promise a brighter future for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange in the Caribbean.
