Kingstown, St. Vincent & the Grenadines – World Pediatrics’ Physical Therapy team returned to St. Vincent and
the Grenadines on November 17th 2024 to facilitate a physical therapy clinic at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital
(“MCMH”). The program focuses on delivering specialized care to children with physical disabilities,
developmental delays, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries or genetic disorders that impact a child’s
mobility, daily function and overall quality of life. The orthotist on the team also provided Orthotic and Prosthetic
services by designing and fitting custom braces and casting to some of the children. The head of the team was
Physical Therapist, Lisa Bebko joined by Occupational Therapist, Jessica Lynn and Orthotist, Ksenia Major. Mrs.
Janelle Ballah, local physiotherapist at MCMH provided support to the team during evaluations.
Over the two-day period between Monday 18th November and Tuesday 19th November 2024, the team conducted
evaluations on 32 Vincentian children. By way of conversation with the team, they expressed contentment with the
continuity of work carried out locally, by both the physiotherapists at MCMH and the children’s parents. “I always
enjoy seeing the children and how much they all grow up each time we visit. It gives me a sense of satisfaction
knowing that they’ve been consistent with their exercises and stretches, and you can see the progress of doing just
that.” Lisa said. The team also encourages parents to take their children for regular check-ups with their local
pediatricians to encourage early detection and intervention of any potential complications such as mild scoliosis.
They noted that early detection can help to evade progression and the need for more intensive treatments like
    surgical intervention.
World Pediatrics, the volunteers, team members and families thank the Mustique Charitable Foundation sincerely
for sponsoring this team and supporting the initiative of healing our Caribbean children.
