    (Grenadines, Tuesday, January 14, 2025)

    The SeaMoss Association of St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SMASVG) proudly announces the successful implementation of the third phase of its pivotal project, Rebuilding Infrastructure and Recovery Support in the Aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. Funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), this initiative addresses the urgent needs of 10 women whose livelihoods in the sea moss industry were severely impacted by Hurricane Beryl.

    A Day of Renewed Hope

    On September 8, 2024, SMASVG distributed essential equipment and supplies to women from Union Island, Canouan, and Bequia, empowering them to rebuild and sustain their sea moss businesses. The distribution ceremony was marked by heartfelt gratitude, with recipients expressing relief, joy, and optimism for the future.

    Tailored Assistance Across Islands

    Union Island:

    Five women, including cultivators Masani Defreitas, Ann Harvey, Hulda Tash, Phillisicia Dember, and value-added producer Vanessa Walters, received critical tools such as ropes, buoys, scales, scuba gear, blenders, packaging materials, and more.


    Canouan:

    Cultivators Shavorn Stephens and Lorna Bacchus were provided with essential resources to restore their operations.


    Bequia:

    Farmers Ronita Ollivierre and Nadia Hazell, along with value-added
