The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is set to launch the Greater Youth Volunteerism and Engagement (GYVE) project in May 2025. Targeting young people between the ages of 19 and 35, the initiative aims to foster community transformation through structured volunteerism.
According to Project Coordinator, Dr. Nigel Scott, GYVE will support groups of 6 to 15 individuals, offering funding and equipment for approved community projects. Participants will receive $55 per activity, with each project running for a duration of six months.
Dr. Scott—who was recently granted early retirement from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College—noted that the GYVE team will assist groups in drafting their proposals, ensuring accessibility to both new and existing organizations. While the project is primarily funded by the government, the hope is for private sector involvement to further support youth engagement and community development.
Application forms will be available on the Government’s official website starting May 8th.
