Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for crime, Trevor Bailey, told a press conference today that investigators have observed similarities between the recent homicide in Green Hill and the deadly shooting in Belmont last evening.
Bailey stated that the investigation is still in its early stages, so details remain limited. However, he confirmed that the investigative team held a briefing this morning at 7:30 a.m. after leaving the Belmont crime scene around 2:30 a.m.
“We looked at the killings in Green Hill and Belmont and we see similarities. We are connecting the dots, and these dots could form a straight line. A line drawn on the map could take us places—and we are prepared to go there,” Bailey said.
On Tuesday, businessman Steven King was shot at his home in Green Hill. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Then, on Friday night, gunmen entered a shop in Belmont owned and operated by Lesline Davis and opened fire. Davis and two other individuals were killed, while two others, including a seven-year-old student, were injured.
At this time, police say they have found no indication that robbery was a motive. The investigation is ongoing.
