Shonique Hunte was arrested and charged on May 18, 2025, for unlawfully and maliciously wounding a 25-year-old labourer of the same address. Investigations revealed that Hunte struck the complainant on the right ankle with a broomstick.

Hunte appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on May 19, 2025, where she pleaded guilty. The court ordered her to pay compensation totaling EC$500 to the virtual complainant—EC$200 to be paid immediately, with the balance of EC$300 due by May 27, 2025. Failure to pay the first amount would result in five months’ imprisonment; failure to pay the remaining balance would lead to a six-month prison sentence.
