I recently visited the general area of the Richmond Quarry. I was surprised that there was no stone-crushing activity being done. Then I asked myself why we considering dredging sand in the “sensitive area around our airport.” They are moving so much topsoil in search of quarry material that we could satisfy all our backfill material need at the modern deep-water port if we had the means to transport it. Note this was not an official visit, so I was not allowed to go on-site and did not attempt to get on the property. I made this observation from a…

The decision by High Court Judge Esco Henry in the vaccine mandate case is a significant victory for the people and democracy in SVG. History will record when all else failed, it was the leadership of the Teachers and Public Service Unions and the erudite, lion-hearted judges of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court who stood between the anti-people, autocratic and evil policies of the Ralph Gonsalves regime and SVG’s downward spiral into a hellish reality. In the decision delivered last Monday, Justice Henry ruled that the government’s mandate was unlawful, unconstitutional, ultra vires, disproportionate and tainted by procedural impropriety. The…

Introduction On Tuesday March 14, 2023, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines celebrated National Heroes’ Day, with the formal wreath laying ceremony at the Obelisk in Dorsetshire Hill. There were other localized activities in communities such as Greggs and Fancy celebrating our ancestral heritage through expressions of song, dance, and the spoken work. The level of acceptance and growing expansion of this day of national significance must be commended since the formal recognition only began at the start of this 21st century. The naming of the day began a much overdue process of the recognition of the Garifuna and Kalinago people…

SVG Green Party welcomes the ruling of the High Court that said it was illegal for the ULP government to deem public servants to have resigned or left their jobs, if they did not have a Covid-19 vaccination by December 2021. The ruling declaring the government’s actions to be illegal was what most people had already believed. The ULP government’s approach to Covid-19 vaccinations was heavy-handed when it came to public servants. The government had overstepped the mark and appeared to forget an important principle. i.e. that government rules on behalf of the people, not over the people. The ULP…
