Cyclists, Zefal Bailey, Marlon Antrobus and Lucky Antrobus will leave the state on Saturday 7 th May, 2022, to particate in the Pam American (Pan Am) Championship in San Juan, Argentina. The team will be managed by Emerson Holder. The championship will be held from May 10th-15 th , 2022 . The championship was originally scheduled to be held in Uruguay, but logistical challenges forced the country to cancel plans to hold the event. Argentina took up the mantel and agreed to be host.

According to an article in THE VINCENTIAN newspaper of 29th April 2022, the Taiwan ambassador presented some ‘scholarships’ to some SVG students. The article said that a total of 524 bursaries, valued at US$120,000, were to be distributed amongst students at the primary, secondary and post-secondary schools and colleges. On average, this amounts to only 229 dollars per award. A truly pitiful gesture! Taiwan’s scholarship system is a gross insult to the people of SVG. There is a reason to debate the Government’s role in the private economy. In principle, I support limiting the Government’s role in economic development to providing infrastructure. If done correctly, everyone benefits. The undeclared ongoing financial crisis, economic recession, and runaway inflation are genuinely not the Government’s fault.
