Teachers in St Vincent and the Grenadines are gearing up to protest this Christmas week after unvaccinated teachers who were not granted exemptions, were fired for not taking the COVID-19 vaccine. The SVG Teacher’s Trade Union is calling on all teachers, vaccinated and unvaccinated to walk with their placards for a picket on December 22 and 23 planned for outside the Financial Complex to say no to mandatory vaccination. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 15-year-old boy. The deceased has been identified as Teroy Peters of Arnos Vale. He was a student of Bishop’s College, Kingstown. According to reports, on December 16 around 3 pm, officers attached to the Calliaqua Police Station was informed of a body lying on the public road in Fenton Mountain. On arrival at the scene, Peters was discovered with what appeared to be gunshot wounds about his body. A postmortem examination is expected to be carried out on his body to ascertain the exact cause of death.

 On Friday, December 10, 2021, representative of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Red Cross Society, Jozell Sutherland handed over a quantity of posters and bookmarkers to Sgt Nicola Williams of the Sexual Offences Unit within the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF). A former security guard who blamed his dire economic situation for having turned him into a thief, was sentenced to six months in prison last Friday. Appearing at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court last Friday, Martin Nelson, 50, of Redemption Sharpes, pleaded guilty to entering a business place around 7:25am October 5, and stealing a handbag containing $400 in cash and a quantity of items, belonging to an employee there.
