St. Vincent and the Grenadines today confirmed forty-six (46) new COVID-19 cases. Forty-four (44) of the cases are nationals with no history of recent travel. One case is a non-national who traveled from Germany and another from Brazil. Both adults arrived with negative results and tested positive subsequently. There are now four hundred and two (402) local cases of COVID-19 under investigation. The WHO International Health Regulations (IHR) Regional Contact Focal Point has acknowledged the objection of St Vincent and the Grenadines National IHR Focal Point to its classification as having community transmission in respect of COVID- 19 and will now revert to the correct classification. Some users of Whatsapp, a multi-messaging platform, have received messages from one “Sarah Davis using cellular phone number 880 1629-845652. The eighty (80) year old male was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Friday January 15, 2021, with complications of a chronic noncommunicable disease. The elderly gentleman tested positive for COVID-19 during the routine screening conducted on all admissions. Norway expressed increasing concern about the safety of the Pfizer Inc. vaccine on elderly people with serious underlying health conditions after raising an estimate of the number who died after receiving inoculations to 29. Dallas City Council voted unanimously last Wednesday to rename part of S Lamar Street after slain Saint Lucian, Botham Jean. The street runs in front of Jack Evans Police Headquarters and the apartment complex where Jean lived and died. An off duty police officer, Amber Guyger, fatally shot the 26 year Botham Jean. He was in his own apartment at the time. But Guyger claimed she mistook Jean’s apartment for hers because they lived on different floors of the same complex. However, a court sentenced her to ten years in jail in connection with the September 2018 incident.
