The results of nineteen (19) positive rapid antigen tests done between January 19th and February 14th at a flu clinic were submitted today February 18, 2021. There were 126 new positive COVID-19 cases Recorded on Monday, February 15. The new cases include results of samples from over a 12-day period, as the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory works to reduce the backlog created by the temporary use of manual extraction in the processing of samples. The laboratory conducted 1,251 tests on Monday. Thirty-eight persons recovered and were discharged from isolation. There are now 731 active cases on the island. Police have arrested and charged Reynold Ledger, a 43 years old labourer of Glenside with the offence of theft on 16.02.2021. Investigations carried out revealed that the Accused man allegedly stole sixteen (16) holes of dasheen valued $25.00 ECC and one (1) bunch of green bananas valued $15.00 ECC; the property of a 75 years old farmer of Cane End. The goods were stolen at Glenside between 11:45am on 12.02.2021 and 4:00pm on 16.02.2021. The Accused man is expected to appear before the Magistrate Court to answer the charge.
Toastmasters in St. Vincent and the Grenadines experienced their first virtual Area Speech Contest on Saturday, 13th February 2021. This engaging and interesting contest was held via the Zoom platform, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The speech contest was hosted by Area 19, comprising five Toastmasters clubs in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Rodney Cadougan who goes by the name ‘Menace ‘ was shot and killed on Wednesday 17th February 2021 according to reports, by an unknown assailant. The shooting took place sometime around 6: 45 pm.
