St. Vincent and the Grenadines today confirmed twenty-three (23) new COVID-19 cases. Eight (8) of the results are from samples taken on February 10th, ten (10) from February 11th and two (2) from February 12th. One of the positive cases from February 12th is that of a traveler who arrived with a negative RT-PCR test and tested positive on quarantine day 6. Three of the cases reported today were detected by rapid antigen testing during Flu clinic screening on January 18th, February 5th and February 11th. Jamaican national, Linford George Robinson, who pleaded guilty on 11.2.2021 for possession of an AR-15 rifle and 60 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition has been sentenced. On Friday February 12, 2021, Chief Magistrate, Ms. Rechanne Browne sentenced Robinson to a term of imprisonment of five (5) years and four (4) months for possession of the prohibited firearm and two (2) years for possession of the prohibited rounds of ammunition. Attorney Kay Bacchus-Baptiste, lawyer representing social activist Luzette King, is of the view that the decision to bring an immigration charge against her client last weekend, was political. “This is not about immigration or COVID-19 protocols.
