St. Vincent and the Grenadines today confirmed one (1) new COVID-19 positive case. One adult non-national arrived on December 20, 2020 with a negative PCR and tested positive on exit screening. Contact tracing of these cases has commenced. No further COVID-19 cases related to the recent cluster of local spread have been detected during testing on December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021. The new cases come following what the Ministry of Health has described as a super spreader event – a bus crawl which took place on Saturday, December 26th, 2020. Minister of Health Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic confirmed that out of those 45 cases, 32 are prison officers from Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds, and 4 are personnel from the Barbados Defence Force. Amplified music in public places has been banned with immediate effect in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
