An investigation is said to have been launched into the death of Arnott Hope, a fisherman who was shot in Pole Yard and later died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). Family members say Hope was shot around 9 p.m. on Friday December 27th at his home in Pole Yard. He was rushed to the hospital where a surgery was done to correct injuries caused by the bullet to his left hip. ANN has received a report of an alleged drowning that took place on the Balliceaux island this afternoon. The deceased is a 79 year old man from Bequia, who lives in England. The deceased was staying in St Vincent and the Grenadines on vacation. Attempts were made to resuscitate the body, to no avail. Members of the coastguard left Mustique with the body to bring to mainland a short while ago . The name of the deceased has been withheld until the members of the family have been notified.

Concerns are now being raised over what is said to be the mysterious death of 58-year old Arnotte Hope of Pole Yard last weekend. Hope was shot in the groin in his yard last Friday afternoon, underwent surgery and by Sunday he was dead – but allegedly not a direct result of the gunshot wounds. Barbados (CMC) – An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 rattled parts of Dominica and the French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe on Monday, the Trinidad-based Seismic Research centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies (UWI) has reported. It said that the quake, which occurred at 11.10 am (local time), was located Latitude 15.79N, Longitude 61.41W and at a depth of 10 kilometres (km). (Jamaica Observer) There were 1,326 murders committed in Jamaica, according to official police statistics. The number is 43 more than the similar period in 2018. It also represents a 3.4 per cent increase in murders, the police’s statistics for serious and violent crimes as at December 28, reveal. Also, there were 1,246, or 90 more shootings for the period, reflecting a 7.8 per cent increase in those incidents.
