The IMF Executive Board has approved the request of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) for emergency financing assistance of about US$16 million to help address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The pandemic has hit St. Vincent and the Grenadines hard. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Ohrma Jummo Dallaway, 40 years old Labourer of New Montrose. According to investigations, about 2 a.m. on 17.05.2020 the police was alerted to a report describing Dallaway’s body lying motionless at the grounds of the Faith Temple Church at New Montrose. When the police responded, the body was met with what appeared to be a gunshot wound at the chest area. The body was later pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer. (TRINIDAD EXPRESS) Regional telecommunications giant Digicel has filed for bankruptcy before the Bermuda courts, but it insists that its day-to-day operations will not be affected by the filing. The bankruptcy filing involves the appointment of three provisional liquidators from KPMG, the global services company. Coming days after the company implemented a group-wide salary reduction, the move is being seen as part of Digicel’s attempt to restructure US$1.6 billion of its estimated US$7 billion debt.
