Nicolas Daniel on the 5\/1\/19 was charged with having in his possession with intent to supply to another at Layou 2,493 grams of cannabis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court heard that around 10 a.m. PC 472 Bobby of the Rapid Response Unit headed by CPl 683 Rogers was on mobile patrol at Layou when they saw HT813 traveling towards Kingstown. The vehicle was stopped and the officers identified themselves and their business of the day. The defendant was seated by the door and was observed to be acting very suspiciously. He was asked to step out of the vehicle where a search of his person was conducted and nothing illegal was found. However a green camouflage napsack was searched where the drugs was found. The defendant was then cautioned by the officer to which he responded “it’s my weed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his own mitigation he asked that the judge consider he has two small children to take care of ages eight and nine. When asked where is the mother he stated she lives somewhere out country side and that he and his father are the ones taking care of the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magistrate Browne said she took his guilty plea into consideration and the fact that he has two small children to care and that he had no previous matter before the court when deciding of the penalty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was charged $4,000.00XCD, when asked how much of it he can pay now he replied $500. That was paid and he was given until 16th April, 2019 to pay the balance of $3,500.00XCD or if on default he will be given one year sentence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
