A FLOOD-WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES <\/p>\n
The Flood-warning has been extended until 6 pm, Sunday 21st October, 2018.<\/p>\n
Unstable conditions associated with the passage of a tropical wave has been generating cloudy to overcast skies, pockets of moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorms across St. Vincent and the Grenadines during the last few days.<\/p>\n
In addition, a trough system in combination with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (I.T.C.Z), are forecast to maintain unstable conditions into the weekend. <\/p>\n
Rainfall accumulations of over 4 inches (100 mm) have already been recorded in some parts of the island during the last two days, and further accumulations of at least 2 to 4 inches (50 to 100 mm) are possible as the activity persists.<\/p>\n
There have also been several reports of landslides, falling rocks and flooding across the islands during the last two days. Thus, due to the already saturated nature of the soils, any additional rainfall is likely to result in further landslides and flooding.<\/p>\n
Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and land slippage, especially in mountainous areas, near rivers, streams and low lying areas that are easily flooded, should be prepared to take the necessary actions<\/p>\n
