According to police, Gloster visited the KCCU around 12:35 p.m. to conduct business when an altercation occurred between him and an on-duty security guard. Gloster was fatally shot during the confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple sources told ANN that Gloster allegedly attempted to skip the line inside the KCCU, triggering a verbal altercation with the security officer\u2014who is employed with Guardsman. During the exchange, the guard allegedly discharged his firearm, shooting Gloster in the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police responded swiftly, and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit processed the scene, recovering several items of evidential value. Gloster was pronounced dead on the spot by a medical practitioner. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday, July 10, to determine the exact cause of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RSVGPF&#8217;s Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 999\/911 or (784) 457-1211 Ext. 4876.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KCCU Responds<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement released Wednesday evening, the Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. confirmed the incident and expressed sorrow over the loss of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are profoundly saddened by the loss of life and extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Operations at the Kingstown branch were immediately halted and the office closed for the rest of the day.
