Kingstown St. Vincent May 13,2026 – A Dasheen Post-Harvest Workshop was held at the Dumbarton Agricultural Station, where approximately fifty-five (55) participants (farmers, traders and extension officers) were trained in best practices for post-harvest management and alternative treatment options to Ridomil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants exporting dasheen to the Caribbean and the United States markets received guidance on the proper use of Ridomil to help reduce high residue levels. Exporters targeting the United Kingdom (UK) and French markets were also trained in correct measurements for alternative treatment options, Serenade and Lime Sulphur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funded by the European Union, this activity was a collaborative effort between the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Transformation and the International Trade Centre (ITC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop formed part of the Strengthening Sustainable Value Chains Through Productive and Commercial Alliances initiative and intended to promote findings from the Dasheen Post-Harvest Trial conducted in collaboration with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation, Eastern Caribbean Trading Agriculture Development Organisation (ECTAD), with funding from the Committee Linking Entrepreneurship-Agriculture-Development (COLEAD) organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
