Kingstown, St. Vincent, May 15, 2026 – Police in St Vincent and the Grenadines say motorists who abandon or improperly park vehicles on public roads could face fines of up to EC$2,500 as authorities intensify enforcement operations across the country.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Pernel Browne said the Traffic Department had received an increasing number of complaints from residents about derelict and unattended vehicles blocking driveways and restricting access to private property.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have received numerous complaints from residents whose neighbors park vehicles in front of their driveways,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n
The senior officer warned that police patrols would now be stepped up throughout St Vincent and the Grenadines, with officers targeting vehicles parked in dangerous locations or obstructing public access.
\n\u201cOfficers will be present wherever there are human settlements to address issues relating to unattended and derelict vehicles,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The Traffic Department said motorists who unlawfully occupy public roads or park without consideration for other road users may face prosecution under traffic regulations.<\/p>\n
According to the police, offenders can be fined up to EC$2,500 by the Magistrate\u2019s Court.
\nAuthorities are also urging members of the public not to interfere with or mislead officers carrying out enforcement duties.<\/p>\n
The police say the operation forms part of wider efforts to improve road safety and maintain clear access routes in communities across the country.<\/p>\n
Motorists have been encouraged to park responsibly and ensure their vehicles do not inconvenience pedestrians, emergency services, or other road users.<\/p>\n
