The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) is encouraging customers across St. Vincent and the Grenadines to ensure adequate water storage arrangements are in place as the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season gets underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a public advisory issued on June 3, the Authority warned that storms, hurricanes and other severe weather events could disrupt water supplies if critical infrastructure is damaged or blocked during adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the CWSA, weather-related impacts can affect one or more water supply systems, resulting in temporary interruptions while repair and restoration work is carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Authority said residents should take proactive measures ahead of any forecast weather system by ensuring they have sufficient water storage available for household needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCustomers are therefore encouraged to ensure that adequate water storage arrangements are in place ahead of any forecasted weather system, as disruptions to the water supply may occur,\u201d the release stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The advisory comes as national authorities continue to urge residents to review their hurricane preparedness plans and take steps to reduce their vulnerability during the 2026 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CWSA also encouraged the public to remain informed by closely monitoring official updates and advisories issued by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and the Meteorological Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials noted that regular updates relating to water services and weather-related developments will also be shared through available media outlets and the Authority\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CWSA said preparedness remains a critical component of ensuring public safety and minimizing inconvenience during severe weather events, particularly as climate-related hazards continue to affect the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Authority is encouraging households, businesses and institutions to review their emergency water supply arrangements now rather than waiting until a weather system threatens the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially began on June 1 and runs through November 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
