The VINVolunteers mentorship programme at the Bishop College Kingstown (BCK) continues to have a positive impact on the academic and personal development of the participants. The programme focuses on mentorship, moral support and it also provides financial assistance to help some students with meals. Fifteen students are benefitting from the nutritional support aspect of the programme where meals are being provided free of cost during the 2018-2019 academic year. The school will receive $3000 per term for this venture.

Since 2016, the VINVolunteers have been working with the BCK and the group targets third form students who are at an age where they make crucial personal and academic decisions. On Thursdays, some members of staff at VINLEC volunteer their time to mentor Form 3 Business and Form 3 General students.

The topics being covered include conflict resolution, peer pressure, communication, career choices, friendship, responsibility and social graces. With guidance from the school’s Counsellor and Principal, the specific areas of focus were chosen to help to comprehensively tackle the academic and disciplinary challenges of students.
