    TSSS Students Receive Laptops

Nine students from the Thomas Saunders Secondary School (TSSS) and one from the JP Eustace Secondary School are better equipped to access online school work, while schools are closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each of the students received a laptop computer, a donation made possible through an initiative by Godfrey Harry, Sports Master at the TSSS.

The computers were gifts from an anonymous donor whose one condition was that they be made available to less fortunate students.

Harry and TSSS Principal John Renton handed over the computers during a short presentation ceremony at the School earlier this week.

In brief remarks, Harry told the students, “You are fortunate to be selected from among the other students at Thomas Saunders Secondary School. We based the choice of persons receiving the computers on situations in which students didn’t have computers but just a phone which was shared with parents.  Phones are very challenging to work with; it takes a longer time to get the work done.”

Principal Renton encouraged the students to make use of the devices and to take care of them.

“Somebody has gone out of their way and dipped into their resources to get these laptops for you; they are not free; somebody paid for them.  You must respect and use them properly; use them with care.  These machines will last you more than five years if you take good care of them, and it will see many of you all the way to college, so please take good care of them.”

The students who received the laptops were:  Colissa Lewis, Daniella Lewis, Kahalia Porter, Rasheed Wallace, Teneeka Delpsche, Roshad Boyce, Zamesha Myle, Shaquania Jacobs, Troy James of the TSSS, and Jolene Welcome from the JP Eustace Secondary School.(The Vincentian )
