The Bequia Basketball Association (BBA) is proud to announce the selection of three players with Bequia ties to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Georgetown, Guyana on July 8-12, 2026.

Leading the Bequia contingent is up-and-coming player Jermaine John of East Blazers. Born and raised in Bequia, John has been a standout performer throughout his basketball career and continues to serve as an inspiration to young athletes across the island. He was awarded MVP in the 23rd Annual Bequia Basketball Tournament last year. The BBA looks forward to John’s skillset growing during his first experience as a senior national team player.

Joining him is Steveon Taylor of the Ashton Vipers. A former national team player, Taylor was raised in Union Island and now resides in Bequia, where he remains actively involved in the local sports community. The Ashton Vipers have been victorious in numerous 3×3 basketball competitions throughout 2026. Taylor will be a strong representative for both the Northern and Southern Grenadines.

Also embodying Bequia’s basketball legacy is professional basketball player Opong Bramble currently playing for Buenas Arenas Albacete Basket in Spain. Bramble, who proudly traces his roots to Bequia, brings a wealth of international experience and high-level competition to the national squad. He also represented the national team back in 2018 in Suriname.

The Bequia Basketball Association is equally pleased to recognise the inclusion of two Bequia-based delegation members – both of whom currently serve on the BBA Executive. FIBA Americas Board Member, CONCENCABA General Secretary and SVG Sports Ambassador Sabrina Mitchell will serve as Chef de Mission and Team Manager. Mitchell has proudly managed our national team since 2014. SVG Basketball Federation PRO Ella Mitchell-Sutton joins the delegation as Social Media Manager, helping to document and share the team’s journey with supporters at home and abroad.

The BBA encourages all Vincentians, particularly residents of Bequia, to rally behind Team SVG as they compete for regional success and continue their journey toward qualification for future international competitions.
