Chapmans, New Adelphi and New Grounds could soon benefit from their own health care facility if the NDP candidate for the South Central Windward constituency, Senator Israel Bruce is elected as part of a New Democratic Party government.
Speaking with J.P Schwmon on ANNSVG ‘On the Spot’ programme, Bruce told a virtual audience:
“I have been in discussion with a constituent who has been residing overseas, and that constituent said to me: Mr Bruce, you win the seat, you form government, I have a parcel of land in Chapmans, there is a structure on it, I am willing to give it to you as a gift to work with.”
“All you will need to do, whatever refurbishing you need, refurbish the building, at zero cent cost to the government. I am giving that to you as a gift for your election victory.”
The unidentified Vincentian in the diaspora challenged Senator Bruce to look out for the interest of the people of Chapmans. Bruce, a former President of the National Youth Council who left teaching to take up a career in law has pledged to get the basic things right for his constituents.
He said the proposal which was brought to him would “let the people of Chapmans have a clinic so that Chapmans people will have a clinic right in the heart of the village to give them health services when it’s needed. It will support the people from New Aldephi as well as New Grounds.”
Bruce who is originally from the Lauders community said that fixing the health care facilities in the constituency is not rocket science. He promised to also address the other challenges existing at the Doreen John Clinic at Greiggs and the Diamonds Clinic.
