The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is appealing to Vincentians to desist from starting Bush Fires, which    can develop into Disasters.

Director of NEMO, Michelle Forbes made the appeal, noting that NEMO has been receiving reports of Bush fires in different areas of the country.

Miss Forbes said in the current dry season, bush fires can get out of hand and disrupt people’s lives and even cause loss of property and death.Miss Forbes says Bush fires also leave the top soil vulnerable and when the rainy season begins this can have serious consequences such as erosion and landslides if the top soil is loose during heavy rainfa
