The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries has announced the appointment of former national footballer and sports administrator Renson Haynes as the new Manager of the National Sports Council (NSC).

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Ministry on June 3, with officials describing Haynes as a seasoned professional whose experience in management, engineering administration and project coordination will help strengthen sports administration in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Haynes brings extensive leadership and operational experience gained during a distinguished career in the United States, where he worked in construction management and large-scale project administration.

A graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Haynes has held several senior positions, including Director of Engineering and Construction Management at Andre John Architects in North Carolina and Assistant Director of Construction and Engineering Administration at New York’s renowned Lincoln Center.

Throughout his career, he has overseen multimillion-dollar projects, managed operational teams, coordinated procurement and budgeting processes, and maintained stakeholder engagement across complex organizations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Haynes is also well known within the local sporting community. He represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the national level in football for nearly a decade and later served as Manager of the Senior Men’s National Football Team between 2021 and 2022.

Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Kaschaka Cupid, welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Haynes’ ability to contribute to the continued development of sports infrastructure and administration throughout the country.

“Mr. Renson Haynes brings a unique combination of management expertise, organizational leadership, international professional exposure, and firsthand sporting experience,” the Minister said.

Cupid added that the appointment represents an important step in strengthening the administration and operations of the National Sports Council as the Government continues efforts to modernize sport, improve facilities and create greater opportunities for athletes and young people.

The Ministry said it looks forward to working closely with Haynes as the National Sports Council advances initiatives aimed at improving facility management, supporting athlete development and strengthening the overall sporting landscape in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
