Kingstown St. Vincent June 8, 2026-The Public Service Commission in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has announced a series of acting appointments to the post of permanent secretary following the creation of three new government ministries and the retirement of several senior public servants.

    In a press release issued on Monday, the commission said the appointments were approved by the Governor General, acting on its advice and with the consent of Prime Minister Godwin Friday.

    The appointments took effect on 8 June and will remain in place until further notice.

    Among those appointed are Ms Gizelle Myers, who will serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries, Maritime and Land Conservation and Climate Change, and Mr Colville King, who has been assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation.

    Ms Dornette Hull was appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Land Management, Urban Development and Informal Settlement Upgrading, while Ms Angelita Miller will serve in the Ministry of the Family, Gender Affairs, Persons with Disabilities, Local Government and Labour.

    The commission also announced the appointment of Mr Rommel Currency as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries.

    Meanwhile, Dr Donna Joyette-Bascombe has been assigned to the Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development, and Mrs Joanne Benjamin-DaSilva will serve as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy.

    The Public Service Commission said the appointments were necessary to fill vacancies arising from changes within the public service and the government’s recent restructuring of ministries.

    No indication was given as to when substantive appointments to the positions may be made.
