    NDP HELD SUCCESSFUL 41ST ANNUAL CONVENTION

    The New Democratic Party hosted its 41st Annual Convention On Sunday 29th September 2019, under the theme “Unifying our nation: Reviving Hope.” The Conference of Delegates which was postponed from the 22 September due to threat from TS Karen was held in the morning at Democrat House, the NDP Headquarters. During this session where all 15 constituencies were represented the Executive was returned to serve for another constitutional term. Reports was also received from President of the Women’s Arm – Mrs. Maureen Brackin, Chairman – Daniel Cummings, General Secretary – Tyrone James and President – Dr. Godwin Friday. Following the business session, party supporters and well-wishers gathered at the Michael Findley stand at the Arnos Vale Playing Field for the Convention Rally. Greetings were received from at the Convention Rally from constituency representatives and caretakers, as well as sister parties in the region. Nancy Charles of the UWP in St. Lucia, brought greetings from Hon. Allen Chastanet, while Robert Miller of the JLP brought greetings from Hon. Andrew Holness. Dr. Godwin Friday, President of the NDP also spoke to the large and energetic crowd, comprising a large percentage of young people. Dr. Friday made a call for national unity and among other things made a commitment to: · Establish a Development Bank to promote local businesses, provide student loans at low interest rate and create jobs · relieve the tax burden on the country by reducing VAT to 13% · ensure that fuel surcharge is never more than your electricity consumption charge
