State witness an alleged sex slave for police while in protective custody

As St Vincent and the Grenadines prepares to take up its seat as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the government is facing an embarrassing situation where perhaps the worst security breach and sexual misconduct in the police force has allegedly taken place in the history of the small island developing state of the Eastern Caribbean.

Authorities are said to be investigating reports where a young state witness, the key witness in a vicious murder case, has been repeatedly raped and sexually exploited by some members of the police force while having been placed in the security and protection of the state under a witness protection programme.

The state witness was said to have been placed at a police station.

It is alleged that officers of various ranks have repeatedly molested her sexually and that the sex acts have been so frequent and demanding that she literally grew worn and traumatized.

It is further alleged that the girl was so broken, so shaken that she contemplated suicide.

It is understood that as a result of the sex crime alleged, two police officers below the rank of a gazette officer were transferred and a corporal of police is under investigation and may be charged in connect with the crimes soon.

The corporal is attached to a tactical unit and stationed in the area where the state witness was kept.

As a result of the situation, the state witness’ location has been disclosed and her safety compromised.

The development is beginning to rock the police force even as stories of what is described as a vicious sex culture within the force begin to mushroom and more so as it comes at a time when a police corporal is now on a charge of rape, a crime allegedly committed on Sunday and involves a fifteen-year-old girl.
