Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Alston John, 94 years Retired of Mesopotamia which occurred approximately 9:45 pm on 15.03.2020.
According to investigations, the deceased man was allegedly attacked and beaten about his body and head with an unknown object by 20 years old relative of the same address who is believed to be mentally ill. The elderly man subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the District Medical Officer.
A post mortem examination is expected to be carried out on the body of the decease to ascertain the cause of death.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The death of Alston John marks the 6th homicide recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the year 2020.
