The Deadline has now passed for individuals and businesses to File their Taxes for this period.Comptroller of Inland Revenue, Kelvin Pompey, says the offices of the Inland Revenue Department were opened on saturday 30th 2019 until noon to accommodate last-minute filing of Taxes.
He says this was done to ensure that everyone meets the March 31st deadline for filing of Tax Returns.
Mr. Pompey says for those who did not file their Taxes and did not receive an extension from the Department, they have a number of measures in place to ensure that the issue of Tax evasion is addressed.
He says “those persons would find that would be assessed by the department especially when it comes to businesses, we will be doing assessments to the best of our judgment based on either past filings or what we conclude the person would have made”
