Consequent upon the commencement of Exercise Tradewinds, Phase Two on June 14, 2019, several training exercises have been executed in different locations on mainland, St. Vincent; and more exercises will be done over the duration of Tradewinds.
There is a five minutes and twenty five seconds video that is being circulated via social media from a news source named โWNNโ depicting the following among other things:
โThe Honourable Prime Minister has issued an evacuation order for citizens living in the demarcated Red and Orange zones close to the La Soufriere volcano in preparation for a possible eruption of the volcano and that the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has raised the alert level to Red which indicates that an eruption is in progress or can occur without further warningโ.
Members of the general public are advised that this video was produced specifically for the purpose of Exercise Tradewinds. These exercises are simulations aimed at testing St. Vincent and the Grenadines emergency response mechanisms and its Incident Command and Control Systems.
Be further advised that there is no unusual activity going on at the volcano at present.
