EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men’s soccer team learned on Thursday that senior Kyle Edwards has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, as voted on by members of the United Soccer Coaches.
The MAC Herman Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.
Edwards led the team last season in goals (14), points (33), shots (64), and shots on goal (29). His 14 goals were the second most in a single season in Division I program history. Edwards finished the season ranked second in the Western Athletic Conference in goals scored while leading the WAC in points and goals scored during WAC play with 10.
Edwards also earned All-WAC First Team honors, named to the WAC All-Tournament Team and was named to the All-Far West Region First Team.
Edwards is one of 36 players on the watch list and the only WAC representative.
The MAC Herman Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees. The winners will be announced on January 10, 2020.
