The issue of a dress code in Court does not bother Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett.
Burnett made this clear when a defendant, taking the dock, apologized before any charge was read to him, for the way he was dressed.
The Senior Magistrate, who seemed not to have even noticed how the defendant was dressed, responded, “These things don’t bother me. What I care about is what people do or say in Court.
“Dress code was made by somebody down the road, and I just go along with the flow.”
The dress code issue in relation to the Court has surfaced from time to time, sparking mixed reaction from members of the legal profession, among whom it has been debated, as well as the public.
The defendant, who was wearing a short pants and t-shirt, admitted that he was not dressed appropriately.
