Following the announcement of the resignation of Mrs. Fayann Lyons Alveraz from the management of the Play Whe International Soca Monarch competition, there was an uncertainty surrounding the hosting of the competition for 2020.

The Caribbean Prestige Foundation, the organization responsible for hosting the International Soca Monarch in Trinidad announced that Mr. Simon Baptiste succeeded Mrs. Alverez as Creative Director of the Play Whe International Soca Monarch competition. A new office was set up and preparations began for the hosting of this year’s competition.

The Carnival Development Corporation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines takes this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Simon Baptiste on his appointment and wishes him much success in his new capacity.

We would also like to congratulate Mr. Hance John and Mr. Shertz ‘Problem Child’ James for being selected as semi-finalists in the Groovy and Power Soca categories respectively. Rest assured the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines stand in full support of their quest for a place in the finals.

This year the CDC would be ramping up our Vincy Mas promotions in Trinidad & Tobago. On Thursday 20th February St. Vincent & the Grenadines would do a live showcase on Synergy TV from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. The program dubbed “Synergy Pon the Avenue” will feature various aspects of Vincy culture and festivals. CDC officials and Vincy Artistes would be interviewed on this live broadcast.

These artistes would be endorsing the Vincy Mas brand and also performing live. This event will be streaming live on SYNERGY tv and on VC3 Tv.

Other media establishments would be covering the activities and news stories are expected to be published in Toronto, Miami and the UK.
