Sunil Narine hit a quickfire 50 as the Trinbago Knight Riders beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by four wickets in the rain-affected opening match of the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.

Set 145 for victory, the Knight Riders took the initiative through Narine (50 off 28 balls) and Darren Bravo (30 off 27 balls) to win the match with two balls to spare, in a match reduced to 17 overs a side.

Dwayne Bravo clinched victory off the fourth ball of the final over, crashing a slower delivery from Naveen Ul-Haq over extra cover for four.

Ul-Haq took 2-21 for the Amazon Warriors, with Imran Tahir taking 2-40 in his four overs in a losing cause.

Earlier, the Guyana Amazon Warriors scored a challenging 144-5, with Shimron Hetmyer hitting 63 not out off 44 balls.

Narine was the pick of the bowlers for the Knight Riders with 2/19 off four overs.

TKR debutant Jayden Seales took 1-24 in his two overs, while Ali Khan had 1-21 in three overs.

Narine was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance in the Knight Riders victory.

The Amazon Warriors will attempt to get their 2020 campaign back on track when they face the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Wednesday at 5:30pm.

The Knight Riders will face the Jamaica Tallawahs on Thursday in the 5:30pm match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Couva.

Summarized scores: Guyana Amazon Warriors 144/5 in 17 overs (Hetmyer 63 notout, Taylor 33; Narine 2/19) vs. Trinbago Knight Riders 147/6 in 16.4 overs (Narine 50, Darren Bravo 30; Ul-Haq 2-21). TKR won by four wickets.
