Amid rampant rumours about the nature of works the company is carrying out at the decommissioned E.T. Joshua Airport site at Arnos Vale, Managing Director Joel Providence made it clear that his company will be paying a rent for use of the facility.

Over half a million dollars is being spent to renovate a section of the Old E.T. Joshua terminal building to set up a new commercial hub in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The project is being spearheaded by the National Properties Limited with other private sector entities. A request for proposals was published in the national newspapers in 2019.

However, the Coreas and Hazell Inc boss pointed out that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in January or February.

“We are not doing all the work on the terminal building either, we are just doing a section that we expressed interest in. Because of the fact we wanted to customise in a particular way, we have agreed with National Properties that we will do the work and then we can have an arrangement in terms of any structural changes that can be offset against that future rent”.

“Coreas and Hazell Inc is going to serve as one of the anchors along with two or three others”, Mr Providence told listeners to the Issue at Hand radio program over the weekend on WEFM.

“You need to ensure that not just the larger companies are involved but the smaller entrepreneurs, maybe even those who have applied for Pryme grants as well may very well have an opportunity to be part of the project”.

He said he expects the first phase to be completed before the end of the year by the late October or early November.
