Officials from the Ministry of Education, Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF), Stewart Engineering and contractors Jack’s Construction Services will tour the Biabou Early Childhood Learning Centre today from 10:00 am.

The project which started in December 2019 with a ground-breaking ceremony is in the final stages of completion. Parliamentary representative for the community and Minister of National Mobilisation Hon Fredericks Stevenson said then that the “centre will be the most beautiful in St. Vincent and the Grenadines” but was five (5) years in the making.

The project was expected to be finished for the start of the new school term but had faced delays due to the pandemic.

The new school boasts disabled access with a ramp, two (2) classrooms with a capacity to seat up to 30 students each, a sick bay/rest room, customised children friendly toilets, supervisor’s office, storage room for teachers and a play area.

The fully equipped centre also has a kitchen with cooker and refrigerator, utensils and learning materials.

The cost of construction was pegged at $1,142,886.00. Stewart Engineering Ltd won the bid to design and supervise the project while Jack’s Construction Services is carrying out the construction work.
