An over six per cent increase in its performance has seen the St. Martins Secondary school (SMSS) displace the St. Vincent Boys Grammar School (SVGS) as this country’s top all-male secondary school following the release of the CXC CSEC results.
The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the school gained a 94.48 % overall pass rate improving upon the 87.7% pass rate in 2019. While the St. Vincent Grammar School has been beaten into second place in the boy’s category and fourth overall, its 93.32% pass rate is better than the 91.44% the school registered in 2019.
The Bequia Seventh- day Adventist High School maintained its top school status with an overall pass rate of 94.19% securing the third spot for the second consecutive year. In 2019, the school registered an 88.57% pass rate.
While the Girls’ High School continued its dominance with an improved 97.88% pass rate on its 96.9% performance in 2019, a further seven schools scored in excess of 80% which has been the benchmark performance. These are:
St. Joseph’s Convent, 86.91%; Thomas Saunders Secondary School, 85.23%; Mountain View Adventist Academy, 83.64%; West St. George Secondary School, 83.59%; St Joseph’s Convent (Marriaqua), 82.68%; North Union Secondary School, 81.38%; and, Georgetown Secondary School, 81.15%.
The ministry further said that 12 schools obtained creditable pass rates between 60% and 80%.

Adelphi Secondary School , 65.90%;
George Stephens Senior Secondary School, 65.15%;
Troumaca Secondary School, 63.33%
