The Roads, Buildings and General Services Authority (BRAGSA) has joined the fight against Dengue Fever in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
This comes as the organisation launches a new initiative dubbed “Fight Against Dengue”.
This will take the form of a road and drain cleaning programme which will run from October 14 – 22, 2020.
Chief Executive Officer of BRAGSA, Mr. Kem Bartholomew says the step is being taken in an effort to assist the Public Health Department in the fight against Dengue Fever.
He says the organisation recognises the seriousness of the illness, and wants to play a pivotal role in the combative efforts.
Mr Bartholomew says work will be carried out in every district across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
He says gangs will be out from 8am tomorrow to commence the road and drain cleaning exercise.
He’s also appealing to persons to make a consorted effort to keep their drains and surroundings clean.
The 8-day project will be carried out a cost of 2.5 million EC dollars.
Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to exercise caution during this period.
In addition to this initiative, BRAGSA is providing two vehicles and drivers to the Vector Unit of the Public Health Department to assist with Fogging exercises island-wide.
