About nine more witnesses, including lead investigator, Sergeant Biorn Duncan, are expected to testify at the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the January 30, 2020 shooting death of Arianna Israel, a Cuban national, who was employed here as a nurse.

The woman’s husband, Mitchel ‘Mitch’ Israel, a former Public Servant, who is charged with the murder, is expected to return to the Serious Offences Court on December 7 when the PI is slated for continuation.

The matter was adjourned on Monday following the testimonies of four witnesses, including Devorn James, a teacher at the St. Martin’s Secondary School in Kingstown; Corporal Jevon Patrick, who assisted with the investigations, and one of the couple’s sons.

Several witnesses had already testified at the PI which started at the Serious Offences Court earlier this year. Among them were a number of students, including another son of the Israels.

Arianna Israel died after being shot several times on the compound of the St. Martin’s Secondary School, shortly after 3 p.m. on January 30 this year.

Attorney Dr. Linton Lewis is representing the accused, while Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpleche prosecutes, and Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne presides.
