    Canouan Football competition commenced last Sunday

    Press Release – The Canouan Football Association in conjunction with the SVGFF has launched its 2020-2021 football competition on 22nd Nov. 2020 at the Fisheries Sporting Complex.

    The competition opened with 5 participating teams. The March pass and best dressed team went to the SLYC (Sandy Lane Yacht Club) Celtic Boyz.

    The other teams in the competition are Mexican Family 1, Mexican Family 2, Canouan United and Yard Boyz which got the bye.

    The teams played for 15 minutes per half and accumulated points by goals scored, throw in, fouls, offside and corner kicks.

    For ever yellow or red card, points were deducted from the team.

    In the first game: SLYC Celtic Boyz won Mexican Family 2, 108 to 66 points.

    The second game play off saw Canouan United defeating Mexican Family 1, 84 to 71 points. In Game three, Yard Boyz made their presence felt when they trashed Canouan United 50 to 19 points.

    The final encounter was a keenly but intensely contested playoff between Yard Boyz and SLYC Celtic Boys. Although the game ended with both teams failing to score goals, Yard Boyz came out overall winners as they eased pass SLYC Celtic Boys with a 37 to 22 points win.

    The tournament will continue over the next few weeks with games being played only on weekends. Primarily Saturdays and sundays.
