Barbados’ frontline workers who served the island in the critical stages of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic are to be honoured with the Barbados Humanitarian Service Award.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley made the announcement in the House of Assembly this morning when she introduced the Barbados Humanitarian Award Bill and the Gold Award of Achievement Bill.

Recipients will receive a badge with a COVID-19 inscription. Mottley has also promised a small ex gratia payment along with the award.

The Prime Minister said the people of Barbados owe a significant debt of gratitude to everyone who risked their lives and went out to serve the country during the pandemic.
