The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) and its components, the
SVG Calypsonians Association (SVGCA), Youlou Pan Movement (YPM)
and the Carnival Bands Incorporated (CBI) expresses profound sorrow on
the passing of former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Information
and Culture, Parnel R. Campbell Q.C.
Mr. Campbell is remembered not only for his service as Minister of Culture
in 1989 – 1990, but also for his contribution in the field of calypso as an
Adjudicator in the early 1980’s. He also served on occasions as a Beauty
Shows Adjudicator. He was a supporter of culture and arts.
In 1974, Campbell’s singing under the stage name “King JaJa” won the
Calypso King title at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill
Campus Barbados, with the hit songs, “Bandit” and “Buy your own
    cigarettes”.
The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) and its components extends
deep condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of Parnel R.
    Campbell Q.C.
