Desron Rodriquez, aka Lava Man, may not be off the hook just yet.

According to Colin John, Commissioner of Police (CoP), investigations are still ongoing and the Police were working with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to determine what charges – if any – could arise based on the findings.

Rodriquez was arrested on April 20 and released during the late afternoon hours of April 22, without charge.

Commissioner John confirmed that Rodriguez, as ordered to, reported to Police on April 26 when he was again interviewed and released pending further investigations.

The 34-year-old became a Social Media sensation after he began posting photographs and videos of himself and a team of others on site at La Soufrière, after it had entered an explosive eruption phase.

In fact, he began posting photographs to Social Media shortly after the effusive eruptions started in December 2020 and continued to post images of his many trips to the summit, including some which were purported to be taken on April 18 hours before an explosive eruption was recorded on that day.

The CoP, during an April 21 interview pointed to the National Emergency and Disaster Management Act of 2006 as making provisions under which Rodriguez could be charged.
