A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Bermuda. Tropical storm conditions are possible there today.

NHC is issuing advisories on newly formed Subtropical Storm Ana, the first named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. At 5 a.m. AST, the center of Ana was located over the Atlantic Ocean about 200 miles (320 km) northeast of Bermuda. It’s moving toward the west-southwest near 3 mph (6 km/h). A continued slow and erratic motion is expected to occur through tonight, followed by a faster northeastward motion on Sunday and Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Winds of 40 mph extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km) north of the center. Little change in strength is forecast to occur today, but gradual weakening is expected tonight and Sunday. Ana is expected to dissipate in a couple of days.

The next complete advisory will be issued by NHC at 11 a.m. AST – www.hurricanes.gov
