Adam Stewart, Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, and his team paid St. Vincent and the Grenadines a one-day visit yesterday (June 22, 2021) to conduct a site tour of the Buccament Bay site that will become the first Beaches Resort in the Eastern Caribbean.

Also attending this site tour were Ministers Hon. Camillo Gonsalves (Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology), Hon. Carlos James (Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture) and Hon. Orando Brewster (Parliamentary Representative for Central Leeward); executive management of Invest SVG Ms. Annette Mark and Mrs Nadine Agard-Juillerat; and the President of the SVG Hotel and Tourism Association Mrs. Kim Halbich.

Discussions during the visit included: completion dates, advertising, investments, employment and community work – among others.

Stewart and his team also met with the Prime Minister, and (whilst at the Buccament site) also met with some of the successful Vincentian applicants to Sandals’ recruitment programme.

Beaches SVG will be a 350-room resort with conference facilities and other first class amenities – eventually employing over 1,000 workers. Currently in the demolition phase, full construction activity will begin in September 2021.
