St Vincent and the Grenadines’ female footballers have been assigned to Group A of the Concacaf Under-20 World Cup Qulifiers.
The Vincentians are grouped with Bermuda, Dominica and the US Virgin Islands.
Also involved in the qualifiers are: the Cayman Islands, Anguilla and Martinique in Group B; St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda and Curacao in Group C; and Grenada, Suriname and Belize in Group D.
The Round Robin stage of the qualifiers takes place in September. The winners of the four groups will advance to the Knock Out phase of the Tournament.
Based on their rankings, sixteen teams do not have to go through the qualifying phase. They are the USA, Mexico, Canada, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Guyana, Guatemala, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Nicaragua and St Kitts and Nevis.
These sixteen will be placed in groups of four. After their round robin play, the three top teams in each group will advance to the direct single match elimination.
The Group and Knock Out stages are set for the first quarter of 2022. The winner, the runner-up and third places will gain berths to the Finals.
Costa Rica will host the 2022 FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup.
