The desire to have all Vincentian children fall in love with and develop their reading has been
strengthened, as House of Ellis Inc on Thursday 12th August, 2021 handed over books and other
resources to Hands Across the Sea SVG.
The handing over ceremony, which symbolized the beginning of collaborative work between both
non-profit organizations, forms part of House of Ellis’ mission to develop education here in St.
Vincent and the Grenadines.
Speaking at the handing over, Founder of House of Ellis Inc, McGregor Ellis said the resources
are part of their ongoing relief effort for persons who are affected by the eruption of the La
Soufriere volcano. He further stated that he believes the books will help the children to get back to
some sense of normalcy despite their current situation.
Receiving the resources for Hands across the Sea were Literacy Links Yvette Pompey and Enna
Bullock, who are currently on a campaign to give books directly into the hands of children as part
of their Children’s Literacy Relief Effort.
In her remarks, Enna Bullock said that the she felt honored that Hands Across the Sea was
chosen to distribute these resources and that she foresees this collaboration bringing forth many
fruits.
As part of its volcanic relief efforts, over 100 families received care and food packages from
House of Ellis Inc, immediately following the April 9th explosive eruption.
